Habitantes y territorio de la ciudad de Piura: aproximación al desarrollo socio-espacial de una ciudad peruana

Abstract

En el presente artículo se analiza el origen y las causas de la disposición espacial de la población en la ciudad de Piura en el año 1993. Al estudiar la población de dicha ciudad según las variables referentes a su origen, nivel de instrucción, ocupación, nivel socioeconómico y edad, se determinó clasificarla en tres grupos distribuidos en anillos alrededor del centro establecido por su fundación española. Tratando de obtener la respuesta a partir de los modelos teóricos, se infiere que estos últimos describen situaciones semejantes, pero no dan razón acerca de la formación de anillos ocupados por diferentes grupos sociales. Animada por Paul Krugman, quien invita en sus reflexiones sobre la localización de actividades humanas a volver la mirada al modelo de Von Thünen, se intenta encontrar las razones específicas de esta distribución.

In this article, the author analyzes the origins and causes of the spacial arrangement of rhe pop­ulacion in the citv of Piura in 1993. By trudying the population of the city, according to the variables related to its origin, education, occupation, wealth and age, it was determined that the population can be classified into three groups distributed in rings around the center established by its Spanish foundation. Trying to get the answer from theoretical models, ir follows that the models describe similar situations, but do not say anything about the ring formation with differ­ent social groups. Encouraged by Paul Krugman, who calls in his reflections on the location of human activities to look back at the Von Thünen model, in this article the author tries to find the. specific reasons for this disrribution.
