El puerto es un realidad multifuncional y polivalente con importantes efectos sobre la vida de las ciudades en las que se sitúa, ya que es parte del litoral, es un acceso, un espacio urbano, una zona industrial, una conexión intermodal, un área de logística y almacenamiento, es un área comercial, un espacio lúdico y de esparcimiento para los ciudadanos, y por ultimo un elemento del paisaje. Con todos estos atributos la ciudad del Callao que en un inicio creció descontrolado y sin planificación hoy tiene mucha historia y potencial es por ello que tras su crecimiento vemos la posibilidad de generar inversiones y un aporte arquitectónico al espacio público que lo alberga.
