This research topic consist of developing a tool (software) capable of optimizing the costs incurred when a contractor company needs to determining the equipment to be used in soil compaction work. For this reason, the production process is studied in order to find the best option and, to achieve this, the Operations Investigation of the problem is carried out. Subsequently, modeling and parameterization is carried out through analytical mehods in order to find a real and feasible solution to our formulated problem. For this, the components that influence the work of executing the controlled fill are studied, such as the characteristics of the projects -technical and material specifications-, as well as the characteristics of the available equipment for compaction -geometric characteristics and productivity-, taking into account the area where it is going to be built. The resource optimization problem becomes a linear programming problem, constructing the corresponding restrictions and formulating the objective function, seeking to minimize equipment rental costs and, consequently, the most efficient fleet that must be counted on for run the compaction work. This is solved through the simplex method, in its variant of the two-phase method. The algorithm returns the solution of the objective function and this indicates the amount and type of equipment to be used in the project. All this process is materialized through the programming of a software, an application called OptimiAPP, developed for mobile phones. This application requires data entry for data processing and display. The software developed was implemented in the Linea Amarilla project, specifically on the fronts where the reinforced earth walls of viaducts 6.1 and 4.2 were executed, resulting in the optimal fleet and generating savings in cost and time. The main reason for our study is to analyze why low levels of productivity occur in works where earthmoving items are the most incidents in terms of cost and time. Being able to understand the process and then improve it through analytical methods will lead us to update the form of execution of this type of fundamental work for the development of civil and mining projects.
