Arquitectura institucional: la naturaleza de la institución y su influencia en la arquitectura

Abstract

This paper seeks to show the relationship between the nature of the institution requesting a commission and the architectural response that we can give as professionals, trying to understand what other factors are involved, sometimes decisively, in architectural production. To make clear this relationship, three institutions of different kind have been selected in order to allow a comparative analysis between the architectural types that were generated for each case. These are: the cultural institution, the educational institution and the bank. This is a concern that comes along my practice, mainly institutional architecture, noticing the enormous complexity we face to shape our work and how professional quality is also defined when you learn to deal with all these factors to produce architecture.

Este trabajo busca mostrar la relación que existe entre la naturaleza de la institución que solicita un encargo y la respuesta arquitectónica que podemos llegar a dar como profesionales, tratando de entender qué otros factores intervienen, a veces de manera decisiva, en la producción arquitectónica. Para hacer más evidente esta relación se han seleccionado tres instituciones de naturaleza diferente, que permitan hacer un análisis comparativo entre los tipos de respuesta arquitectónica que se gestaron para cada caso. Estas son: la Institución Cultural, la Institución Educativa y la Institución Bancaria. Esta es una inquietud que surge a lo largo de mi práctica profesional, principalmente arquitectura institucional, al caer en cuenta de la enorme complejidad que tenemos que enfrentar para dar forma a nuestras obras y hasta qué punto la calidad profesional se define también cuando se aprende a lidiar con todos estos factores al producir arquitectura.
