This thesis is part of applied or field scientific research that evaluates the development and exploitation of open pits, of a mining company located in the department of Ica, in southern Peru. It should be noted that the information published in this thesis, specifically in the results obtained, does not correspond to the real mine. The mining operation takes place in four mines, which were randomly selected from a population of seven mines. Mine 2 and 4 being operated by the mine-study itself, and mines 14 and 19 are operated by contractors; where the deepening phases within the same pit must be analyzed, raising the uncertainty whether to continue to exploit or not, because perhaps when the bottom of the pit is exploited, the waste can be greater tonnage than the mineral, that is, there would not be an adequate relationship in the 2: 1 stripping ratio Regarding the four samples, the application of the zero-section philosophy must be analyzed to determine the economic and final limits of each pit, which represent the end of the exploitation of a pit because it would no longer represent a viable activity for the profitability of the company. However, in mines 2 and 4, the philosophy of section zero would have been applied, only 381m would have been deepened, stopping to deepen 111.25m, which represents 23%, and 394.41m, stopping to deepen 131.37m, which represents 25%. Regarding the actual deepening of mine 14, it was 368.20m and mine 19 was 389.84m, this was obtained by applying the philosophy of zero section, the reducing by 11% (43.28m) and 20% (99.36m) respectively; This made possible to obtain an adequate stripping ratio as shown in Figures 5.3 and 5.4.
