La dinámica de usos de la Plaza de Armas de Arequipa

Abstract

En la ciudad hispanoamericana, la Plaza Mayor o de Armas tiene desde su fundación un rol protagónico, por lo cual recibe una atención especial de parte de los sucesivos gobiernos y de sus habitantes. Actualmente, la Plaza ele Armas de Arequipa está en el centro ele la Zona Monumental, en una ciudad que cuenta con 800 mil habitantes y que es Patrimonio Mundial de la Humanidad. En la presente investigación, se analiza la dinámica y usos de la Plaza a base de las observaciones directas y las encuestas a los habitantes de la ciudad, realizadas en abril del 2005. Se examina la posición de la Plaza en la ciudad y su historia; luego la utilización de su espacio, los motivos por los cuales las personas se encuentran en la Plaza y se analiza la apreciación que los habitantes tienen de la misma. Al final, se concluye con un modelo del uso actual de la Plaza.

In the Hispano-American city the Plaza de Armas has from its foundation en important roll, therdore it receives special attention from the successive governments and of their inhabitants. At the moment, the Plaza de Armas of Arequipa is the center of the Monumental Zone, in a city that has 800 thousand inhabitants and who are World-wide Patrimony of the Humanity. In the present invcstigation one analyzes thc dynamics and uses of the Plaza de Armas on the basis of the direct observations ancl the surveys to the inhabitants of the city, made in April of thc 2005. The position of the Plaza de Armas in the city and its history is examined; soon, the uses of the ground, the reasons by which the people are in the Plaza de Armas and analyze the appreciation that the inhabitants have of the Plaza de Armas. In the end, one concludes with a modcl of present use of the Plaza de Armas.
