Sobre la realidad y el mundo real

Abstract

Nuestra convicción sobre la existencia del “mundo real” la adquirimos grosso modo por tres vías: La información directa de nuestros sentidos (y de los aparatos de detección), la información que recibimos de los diferentes medios de divulgación de tal realidad y la infamación que nos sugieren las diversas teorías que pretenden describir al mundo. Por otra parte, también adquirimos la convicción de que dichas fuentes de información son, en mayor o menor grado, falibles. Esto plantea, entre otras cosas, el problema de la validez de la información que recibimos y procesamos, y el problema del significado de la existencia o inexistencia de los objetos del mundo real. En el presente artículo, partiendo de una serie de “hechos” significativos, y usando la Física como marco de referencia, trato de plantear y responder algunos de las preguntas relacionadas con la existencia del mundo real - es decir, de los objetos que constituyen el mundo real - y con el significado de tales planteamientos y respuestas. Es la visión de cómo funciona el mundo y cómo tal conocimiento nos permite predecir cómo funcionará nuestro contomo en el corto y mediano plazo.

Roughly speaking we get our conviction about the existence of the so called real world by means of three ways: The direct information of our senses (and the detection devices), the information we get through media and literature, and the information we get from the various theories which try to describe the real world. On the other side we also learn by experience that such information means are more or less fallible. This fact generates, among other things, the problem of the validity of the information we receive and assimilate, and the problem of the meaning of the existence of real-world-objects. In this paper, starting from some meaningful ‘facts’ and using the physical theories as a reference frame, I try to state and answer some of the questions related to the existence of the world - that is, about the existence of the objects of the world - , and the meanings of such statements and answers. It is the how-the-world-operates-vision and how such knowledge allows us to predict how our surroundings will function in the near and medium future.
